2x - 5 = 8

So, moving 5 to the rhs will change its sign (i.e., it will become positive from negative.)

2x = 8 + 5

2x = 13

NOW, 2 which is present with x will go in the denominator of 13.

x = 13/2

Best of luck for exam! :)
