2x + 5y = 20--------------(1)

3x + 6y = 12-------------(2)

multiply equation 1 by 3

and equation 2 by 2

3(2x + 5y = 20 )= 6x + 15y = 60-----(3(

2(3x+6y = 12) = 6x + 12y = 24--------(4)

subtract equation 4 from 3

6x + 15y = 60

6x + 12y = 24

3y = 36

y = 36/3

y = 12

put the value of y as 12 in equation 1

2x + 5y = 20

2x + 5×12 = 20

2x + 60 = 20

2x = 20-60

2x = -40

X = -40/2

X = -20
