2x=20-5y

x=(20-5y)/2. as equation 3

substitute equation 3 in 2

3[(20-5y)/2] +6y=. 12

multiply the equation with 2

3[20-5y] +12y=24

60-15y + 12y =24

60-3y=24

-3y = 24-60

-3y = -36

y = 36/3 ;y =12

substitute y= 12 inequation 1

2x+5(12)=20

2x =20-60

2x=-40 ; x=-40/2 ; x=-20

x=-20 and y= 12
