Answer:

2x + 5y= -7 -------------- (i)

5x + 2y= 14  -------------- (ii)

multiplying (i) by 5 and (ii) by 2

(ii) -(i)

10x + 4y = 28

10x + 25y =-35

(-)       (-)        (+)

------------------------------

         21y   =  -7

              y   =   -7/21

              y    =  -1/3 ------------(iii)

substituting (iii) in (i)

2x +5y = -7

2x  + 5 X -1/3 = -7

2x  +( -5/3)    = -7

2x  -5/3  = -7

    2x = -7 + 5/3

     2x = -21+5/3

      2x = -16/3

         x= -16/3/2

          x = -8/3

hope it helps you!!
