multiply eq 2 by 2 we get

2x-4y=30

2x+6y=8

2x-4y=30

subtract

10y=-22

y=-22/10

y=-11/5

put in eq 1 we get

2x+6×11/5=8

2x+66/5=8

2x=40-66/5

2x=-26/5

10x=-26

x=-26/10

x=-13/5
