ANSWER:

  • Value of x is 47/37 and y is 13/37.

GIVEN:

  • 2x+7y-5 = 0
  • -3x+8y= -1

TO FIND:

  • Value of'x' and 'y'.

SOLUTION:

=> 2x+7y = 5. ....(i)

Multiplying eq(i) by 3 we get;

=> 3(2x+7y) = 5*3

=> 6x+21y = 15. .....(ii)

=> -3x+8y = (-1)

Multiplying both sides by 2 we get;

=> 2(-3x+8y) = (-1*2)

=> -6x+16y = -2 .....(iii)

Adding eq (ii) and (iii) we get;

=> 6x+21y-6x+16y = 15+(-2)

=> 37y = 13

=> y = 13/37

Putting y= 13/37 in eq(I) we get;

=> 2x+7(13/37) = 5

=> 2x = 5-91/37

=> 2x = (185-91)/37

=> 2x = 94/37

=> x = 47/37

Value of x is 47/37 and y is 13/37.
