Given :

2x+y=2\times \dfrac{5}{2}=5\\\\2x-y=2\dfrac{1}{2}=\dfrac{5}{2}

To find : the value of x = ?

Solution:

2x+y=2\times \dfrac{5}{2}=5\\\\2x-y=2\dfrac{1}{2}=\dfrac{5}{2}

So, using "Elimination method", we get that

2x+y=5\\\\2x-y=\dfrac{5}{2}\\\\---------------------------\\\\4x=5+\dfrac{5}{2}\\\\4x=\dfrac{10+5}{2}\\\\4x=\dfrac{15}{2}\\\\x=\dfrac{15}{2\times 4}=\dfrac{15}{8}

Hence, the value of  x is \dfrac{15}{8}
