As we know by identity, (a + b)(a - b) = a² - b²

Hence, we can say that -

(2x - y)(2x + y) = (2x)² - (y)²

= 4x² - y²

Similarly, we can say that -

(x + 2y) (x – 2y)​

= x² - 4y²

4x² - y² - (x² - 4y²)

= 4x² - y² - x² + 4y²

= 3x² + 3y²

= 3(x² + y²)
