2x - y =  - 4 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  - (1)
12x - y = 66 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  - (2)

on subtracting equation (1) and (2), we get...

 - 10x =  - 70
10x = 70
x =  \frac{70}{10}
x = 7


on putting the value of x in equation (1)

2(7) - y =  - 4
14 - y =  - 4
 - y =  - 4 - 14
 - y =  - 18
y = 18
hence \: the \: value \: of \: x \: is \: 7 \: and \: the \\ value \: of \: y \: is \: 18
