5x - 3y = 1 --------(2)

multiply eq 1 by 5 and eq 2 by 2 ,then we get

10x + 5y = -20 ----(3)

10x -6y = 2 -----(4)

subtract eq(3) - eq(4)

we get , 11y = -22

therefore y =-22/11 = -2

substitute value of y in eq (1)

we get , 2x - 2 = -4

2x = -4 +2 = - 2

therefore x = 2/2 = -1
