x=2 and y=1

2x+y=5

y=5−2x

3x−y=5

putting value of y from (1) in the above equation, we get

3x−(5−2x)=5

3x−5+2x=5

3x+2x=5+5

5x=10

x=

5

10

x=2

value of x in (1) ,we get

y=5−2x

y=5−2×2

y=5−4

y=1

hence x=2 and y=1
