2x + y = 3x - y \\

then

y + y = 3x - 2x \\ 2y = x

or

y =  \frac{x}{2}

abcde1623: we should put the value of y in eqation 1st and find the value of x
mokshitjain18: which is equation 1st

2x+y=5
y=5-2x

putting thus value in equation

3x-y=5

3x-5+2x=5

5x=10

x=2

putting x =2 in equation

y=5-2x

y=5-2(2)
y=5-4
y=1
