Answer:

x =  \frac{ - 7 +  \sqrt{ {7}^{2}  - 4 \times 2 \times 5} }{2 \times 2}  \\  =  \frac{ - 7 +  \sqrt{49 - 40} }{4}  \\  =  \frac{ - 7 +  \sqrt{9}   }{4}  \\  =   \frac{ - 7 + 3}{4}  =  \frac{ - 4}{4}  = ( - 1)

or,

x =  \frac{ - 7 -  \sqrt{ {7}^{2}  - 4 \times 2 \times 5} }{4}  \\  =  \frac{ - 7 -  \sqrt{49  - 40 }  }{4}  \\  =  \frac{ - 7 - \sqrt{9}  }{4}  \\  \frac{ - 7 - 3}{4}  =  \frac{ - 10}{4}  =  \frac{ - 5}{4}

It's your answer dear.

x= (-1) or, (-5/4).
