As, we can see the factor of 2 is in each term. Taking out 2 common

2( - {x}^{2} + 4x + 12)

Now, by Using Middle Term Splitting.

Find 2 Numbers whose sum is the middle term and those two numbers will give us the multiplication of first and last term.

6 + ( - 2) = 4 \\ (6)( - 2) = -12

Hence,

2( - {x}^{2} + 6x - 2x + 12) \\ = 2( - x(x - 6) - 2(x - 6)) \\ = 2(x - 6)( - x - 2) \\ = - 2(x + 2)(x - 6)
