 {2x}^{2} + x - 4 = 0 \\ \\ = > {x}^{2} + \frac{x}{2} - 2 = 0 \\ \\ = > {x}^{2} + \frac{x}{2} + \frac{1}{4} - \frac{1}{4} - 2 = 0 \\ \\ = > [ {x}^{2} + \frac{x}{2} + ( \frac{1}{2} ) {}^{2} ] - 2 - \frac{1}{4} = 0 \\ \\ = > (x + \frac{1}{2} ) {}^{2} = 2 + \frac{1}{4} \\ \\ = > (x + \frac{1}{2} ) {}^{2} = \frac{9}{4} \\ \\ = > (x + \frac{1}{x} ) {}^{2} = ± \frac{3}{2} \\ \\ = > x + \frac{1}{2} = \frac{3}{2} \: and \: x + \frac{1}{2} = - \frac{3}{2} \\ \\ = > x = 1 \: \: and \: \: x = - 2

hope it helps ☺️
