\frac{(2y-1)}{5} -\frac{(y+3)}{7} = 0

=> \frac{2y-1-(y+3)}{35}  = 0 (35 is taken as LCM and both terms are added

=> \frac{2y-1-y-3}{35} = 0

=> \frac{y-4}{35} = 0

=> y-4 = 0*35 = 0

=> y = 4

Therefore, y is equal to 4
