\dfrac{2y + 3}{3y + 4} = \dfrac{7}{10}

Cross multiply

10(2y + 3) = 7(3y + 4)

Remove the brackets and multiply

20y + 30 = 21y + 28

Move the terms. Remember while shifting the constants or variables from LHS to RHS or from RHS to LHS, + changes to -, - to +, × to ÷ and ÷ to ×

30 - 28 = 21y - 20y

Subtract

2 = y

∴ The value of y is \boxed{\boxed{\textsf{2}}}
