The density of hydrogen at STP is 0.09 kg/m³.

To find : The rms velocity of its molecules at 0°C will be...

solution : rms velocity of an ideal gaseous molecules is given by,

v_{rms}=\sqrt{\frac{3RT}{M}}....(1)

and we know equation of density, \rho=\frac{PM}{RT}.....(2)

from equations (1) and (2) we get,

\quad v_{rms}=\sqrt{\frac{3P}{\rho}}

pressure of gas at STP, P = 10^5 N/m²

now RMS velocity, v_{rms}=\sqrt{\frac{3\times10^5}{0.09}}

=1825.74 m/s

Therefore the rms velocity of hydrogen at 0°C is 1825.74 m/s.
