(√3 - 1)/(√3 + 1) = a - b√3

On rationalizing the LHS...

=> [(√3 - 1)/(√3 + 1)]×[(√3 - 1)/(√3 - 1)]

=> [(√3)² + (1)² - 2×√3×1]/ (√3)² - (1)²

=> (3 + 1 - 2√3)/ (3 - 1)

=> (4 - 2√3)/2

=> 2(2 - √3)/2

=> 2 - √3 = a - b√3

On comparing both sides we get,

a = 2 and b = 1
