ratio of 7:6:7. Rahim retired and his share was devided equally between Ram and
Mohan. Calculate the new profit sharing ratio of Ram and Mohan.

Answer:

New Profit Sharing Ratio =

Ram : Mohan = 1 : 1

Explanation:

Old Ratio ;

Ram : Rahim : Mohan = 7 : 6 : 7

  • Ram's Share = \sf{\dfrac{7}{20}}

  • Rahim's Share = \sf{\dfrac{6}{20}}

  • Mohan's Share = \sf{\dfrac{7}{20}}

Rahim retired and his share was divided equally between Ram and Mohan :

  • Rahim's Share = \sf{\dfrac{6}{20}}

Share of Rahim taken by Ram =

\sf{\longrightarrow{\dfrac{6}{20}  \:  \times  \:  \dfrac{1}{2}  \:  =  \:  \dfrac{6}{40}}}

Share of Rahim taken by Mohan =

\sf{\longrightarrow{\dfrac{6}{20}  \:  \times  \:  \dfrac{1}{2}  \:  =  \:  \dfrac{6}{40}}}

New Profit Share = Old Profit Share + Share taken from Rahim

Ram's New Share =

\sf{\longrightarrow{\dfrac{7}{20}  +  \dfrac{6}{40}}}

\sf{\longrightarrow{\dfrac{20}{40}  =  \dfrac{1}{2}}}

Mohan's New Share =

\sf{\longrightarrow{\dfrac{7}{20}  +  \dfrac{6}{40}}}

\sf{\longrightarrow{\dfrac{20}{40}  =  \dfrac{1}{2}}}

New profit share ratio =

  • Ram : Mohan

  • \sf{\dfrac{1}{2}  :  \dfrac{1}{2}}

Therefore,

New Profit Sharing Ratio =

Ram : Mohan = 1 : 1

Solution:-

  • Let the ratio of their profit and loses be x.

\tt\longmapsto{Ram's\: share = 7x}

\tt\longmapsto{Rahim's \: share = 6x}

\tt\longmapsto{Mohan's\: share = 7x}

After the retirement of Rahim, his share was equally divided between Ram and Mohan.

  • Share of Rahim that each of them gets

\tt\longmapsto{6x \times \dfrac{1}{2} = 3x}

After dividing the share of Rahim

\tt\longmapsto{Ram's\: share = 7x + 3x = 10x}

\tt\longmapsto{Mohan's\: share = 7x + 3x = 10x}

Finding the ratio

\tt\longrightarrow{Required\: ratio = \dfrac{Ram's\: share}{Mohan's\: share}}

\tt\longrightarrow{Required\: ratio = \dfrac{10x}{10x}}

\tt\longrightarrow{Required\: ratio = \dfrac{1}{1}}

\tt\longrightarrow{Required\: ratio = 1:1}

Hence,

  • Required ratio of their shares 1:1
