Given:- If a given equation , a1x + b1y + c1 = 0 and a2x + b2y + c2 = 0 . So which of the following is true if parallel lines are found by a graph?

To Find:- Correct option among these

(A) a1/a2 = b1/b2 = c1/c2.

(B)a1/a2 = b1/b2 ≠ c1/c2 .

(C)a1/a2 ≠ b1/b2 .

(D)none of this .

Answer :-

We know that is lines are parallel then , there is no solution for the two lines . So , for the lines to have no solution Condition is a1/a2 = b1/b2 c1/c2 .

Hence the correct option is (B) .

More to Know:-

1) Condition for lines to be intesecting ,

  • a1 / a2 b1 / b2

2) Condition for lines to be coincident ,

  • a1 / a2 = b1 / b2 = c1 / c2
