Step-by-step explanation:

Given A man invested 2/5 of his capital at 8% p.a., 3/8 of his capital at 10% p.a. and the remaining at 12% p.a. If his annual income at simple interest is 965, then  his capital is

S.I = P x R x T / 100

Let the total capital invested be Rs a then

2/5 at 8%, 3/8 at 10% and remaining 12%

So 2/5 + 3/8 = 31/40, 1 – 31/40 = 9/40

So 2a/5 x 8 / 100 + 3a / 8 x 10 / 100 + 9a / 40 x 12 / 100 = 965

So 16 a / 5 + 30 a / 8 + 108 a / 40 = 96500

128 a + 150 a + 108 a / 40 = 96500

386 a = 96500 x 40

Or a = 3860000 / 386

So a = Rs 10,000

Therefore his capital is Rs 10,000.
