3+3k=0
3(1+k)=0
1+k=0
K=-1
But if I do it like this:-
3(1+k)=0
3=0
So what did I do wrong in the second part to get 3 equal to 0.

3 ( 1 + k ) = 0

You are basically saying :

3 = 0 / ( 1 + k )

3 = 0

Haha I proved it !!!

But this is a fallacy ...you are not a hero..zero O_o

3 = 0 / ( k + 1 )

Lets get back to :

3 ( 1 + k ) = 0

k is actually - 1

so 1 + k = - 1  + 1

= 0

Thus k + 1 =0

Hence 3 × 0 = 0

Then you are saying 3 = 0 / 0

3 = 0 [ proved ]

but my dear 0 / 0 is not 0 it is indeterminate !

And by the way you cannot divide both sides by k + 1

It is because k + 1 = 0

Hence it is a mathematical error.

Hope you understood !
