They learned from Brahmagupta earlier than Ptolemy. Alberuni's translator and editor Edward Sachau wrote: "It is Brahmagupta who taught Arabs mathematics before they got acquainted with Greek science." Al-Fazari also translated the Khandakhadyaka (Arakand) of Brahmagupta.
