Given :

Total length of road = 2 \dfrac{3}{5} km

Part of road to be resurfaced = \dfrac{3}{5}th

To Find :

The length in kilometres is to be resurfaced.

Solution :

Let The length in kilometres is to be resurfaced = x km

∵ Total length of road = 2 \dfrac{3}{5} km = 2 + \dfrac{3}{5} = \dfrac{13}{5} km

And

Part of road to be resurfaced = \dfrac{3}{5}th

i.e Part of road to be resurfaced = \dfrac{3}{5}th of \dfrac{13}{5} km

                                                      = \dfrac{3 \times 13}{5 \times 5}

                                                      = \dfrac{39}{25} km

Hence, The length in kilometres is to be resurfaced is \dfrac{39}{25} km . Answer
