Answer:

39 and 21

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

3. 60 passengers are travelling in a bus. Some passengers are carrying 5 tickets and remaining are carrying 10 tickets.  The total fare received

by the conductor is * 405. Find the number of  passengers carrying:

a. 5 ticket b. 10 ticket

Let the number of passengers carrying Rs 5 tickets be a

So total number of passengers are 60

Now the number of passengers carrying Rs 10 tickets will be 60 – x

According to question total amount collected by the conductor is Rs 405

So 5x + 10(60 – x) = 405

   5x + 600 – 10x = 405

    5x – 10x = 405 – 600

    -5x = - 195

     So x = 39

Now the number of passengers carrying Rs 5 tickets will be 39 and number of passengers carrying Rs 10 tickets will be 60 – 39 = 21
