Let the total number of the student be w
therefore the number of the student who happened to have visited old age home=3w/8
the students who went for a nature walk were 16
Those who opted for a tree plantation=root w
3w/8=16+ root w
3w-16=root w
3w-128=8 root w
Then square both sides(3w-128)the whole square (8root w)the whole square
9w square=16384-768w=-64
9w²-832w=16384=0
9w²-576w-256w+16384=0
w=256/9 or w=64
w=256/9 is not admissible
=64 students
