Now let's move on finding the solution for our question.

Solution :

We know that, there are 1 - 10 strips in the bag. And so,

Sample Space = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10}

n(S) = 10

Solution 1 :

Probability of getting a number less than 5

Let, A be the event of getting a number less than 5.

→ A = {1, 2, 3, 4}

→ n (A) = 4

→ P (A) = n(A) / n(S) = 4 / 10

Solution 2 :

Probability of getting an even number.

Let, B be the event of getting even numbers.

→ B = {2, 4, 6, 8, 10}

→ n(B) = 5

→ P (B) = n(B) / n(S) = 5 / 10 = 1 / 2

Hence, Probability of getting numbers less than 4 = 4/10 and getting even numbers = 1/2.
