3. A bullet of mass 15 g has a speed of 400 m/s. What
is its kinetic energy ? If the bullet strikes a thick
target and is brought to rest in 2 cm, find out the

---------------------------------------------------------

Mass = m = 15 g = 0.015 kg                                 [ 1kg = 1000 g ]

Velocity = v = 400 m/s

K.E = 1/2 mv²

     = 1/2 × 0.015 × 400 × 400

     = 1200 Joules

Work done = K.E

W = 1200 J

W = F × s

s = 2 cm = 0.02 m

1200 = 0.02 F

F = 1200 / 0.02

F = 60000 N ==> Answer

☆The energy gets converted to Heat Energy .

Hope it Helps :)
