3. A canal is 300 cm wide and 120 cm deep. The water in the canal is flowing with a speed of 20km/h. How much area will it irrigate in 20 minutes if 8 cm of standing water is desired?​

∴1cm=1/100m

width of canal =300cm =300/100m =3m      

depth of canal  = 120cm =120/100m = 1.2m      

volume of water that flows in canal in one hour=width of canal×depth of canal×speed of canal water

=3×1.2×20×1000m³

=72000m³

the volume of water in canal in 20 minutes=72000×20/60m³

                                                                       =24000m³

area irrigated in 20 minutes,if 8cm waater is required(8cm=0.08m)

24000/0.08m²

=300000m²
