Given:

A cuboid has dimension 4m x 6m x 1m and weight 288N.

To find:

Maximum & Minimum pressure on cuboid ?

Calculation:

  • For max pressure, area of contact has to be minimum.

  • Similarly, for pressure to be minimum, area has to be maximum.

 \sf \: P_{max} =  \dfrac{force}{area_{min} }

 \sf  \implies\: P_{max} =  \dfrac{288}{(4 \times 1) }

 \sf  \implies\: P_{max} =  \dfrac{288}{4 }

 \sf  \implies\: P_{max} = 72 \: Pa

Now, minimum pressure:

 \sf \: P_{min} =  \dfrac{force}{area_{max} }

 \sf  \implies\: P_{min} =  \dfrac{288}{(4 \times 6) }

 \sf  \implies\: P_{min} =  \dfrac{288}{24 }

 \sf  \implies\: P_{min} = 12 \: Pa

Hope It Helps.
