Given:-

Distance covered in the first hour = 2 km

Distance covered in the second hour = 2.5 km

Distance covered in the third hour = 2.8 km

To find:-

Average speed of cyclist

Solution:-

We can easily solve this problem by memorising the formula of average speed

we know that,

Average speed:-

The ratio of total distance covered by the object to the total time taken is called

average speed.

Average speed = Total distance / Total time

i) Average speed of cyclist in km/hr

ν = D/T

= 7.3/3

=2.43 km/hr

ii) Average speed of cyclist in m/s

ν = 2.43* 5/8

= 1.51m/s

The average velocity or the average speed of the cyclist is 2.43 km/hr and 1.51 m/s.
