3. A cylindrical container of diameter 16 cm contains sufficient water to submerge a solid of
dimension 6cm x 8 cm x 12cm. Find the rise in the level of water, when the solid is
completely submerged.​

volume of the iron block = 32 x 22 x 14 = 9856 cm³

Given the diameter of the cylindrical container = 56 cm

=> radius of the cylindrical container = 56/2 = 28 cm

Let the rise in water level be h cm

=> volume of water raise = πr²h

= 22/7 x 28 x 28 x h

= 2464 h cm³

Hence ,

2464 x h = 9856

=> h = 9856/2464 = 4 cm

Hence the rise in water level will be 4
