Given that ,

The present age of father is 4 times that of the son .

so , let the son's age be x , according to Question , father's age will be '4x'

Before 11 years the father's age would be 4x - 11 years and that of son would be x - 7 years .

so ,

According to the question :

4x - 7 = 11 ( x - 7 )

➙ 4x - 7 = 11x - 77

➙ 4x - 11x = -77 + 7

➙ -7x = 70

➙ x = 70/7

x = 10

\therefore Age of son = x = 10 yrs

Age of father = 4x = 10 × 4 = 40 years .
