3. A field is 30 m by 22 m. Along the length of the field,
a rectangular plot of 9 m by 4m is cut off for an entry
gate and a small parking. How much will it cost to
plant fresh grass in the field at the rate of 45 per
sq. m?​

Length of rectangular field (l) = 30 m and breadth (b) = 22 m

width of parallel roads perpendicular to each other inside the field =2.5  

Area of cross roads = width of roads (Length + breadth) – area of middle square

= 2.5 (30 + 22) – (2.5)2

= 2.5 x 52 – 6.25 m2

= (130 – 6.25) m = 123.75 m2
