Now, in air :

F_{air} =  \dfrac{k(q1)(q2)}{ {r}^{2} }

Now, in glass :

F_{glass} =  \dfrac{k(q1)(q2)}{ e_{r} \times  {r}^{2} }

 \implies F_{glass} = \dfrac{1}{ e_{r}}    \times \dfrac{k(q1)(q2)}{ {r}^{2} }

 \implies F_{glass} = \dfrac{1}{ e_{r}}    \times F_{air}

  • Now, putting the values :

 \implies F_{glass} = \dfrac{1}{8}    \times 40

 \implies F_{glass} = 5 \: N

So, electrostatic force between the charges in glass will be 5 Newton.
