3 a) If x= ³√27,y= ⁴√625, then show that the value (x + y) is a zero of the polynomial p(x)=x2-5x-24.​

Answer:

x= ³√27= 3

y= ⁴√625= 5

Therefore, (x+y)= (3+5)= 8

p(x)= x^2-5x-24

p(8)= 8^2-5(8)-24

     = 64-40-24

     =24-24

     = 0

Hence, proved that (x+y)= 8 is a zero of the polynomial p(x)= x^2-5x-24
