Given info : A particle of mass, m = 1 kg is moving along the line y = x + 3, with speed , v = 3 m/s.

To find : The magnitude of angular momentum of the particle about origin is ...

solution : angular momentum, L = mvr

where m is mass , v is speed and r is distance of particle from the observation point.

here observation point is origin, so distance of line from the origin is r = |(0) + 3 - (0)|/√(1² + 1²)

= 3/√2

now L = 1 kg × 3 m/s × 3/√2 m

= 9/√2 kgm²/s

Therefore the angular momentum of the particle about origin is 9/√2 kgm²/s.
