Question:

A shop keeper bought a chair for rs.500 and sold it for rs. 625 Find the profit percentage ?

Solution:

gain\% = \frac{1}{4} \times 100

  • Here the cost price of chair is given and selling price of chair is given of the shopkeeper. Here , we need to find profit percentage .

A shopkeeper bought a chair for Rs.500

So , C.P = Rs.500

And sold the chair in Rs.625

So , S.P = Rs. 625.

We will put the formula of Gain%.

We know that,

gain\% = \frac{s.p - c.p}{c.p} \times 100

gain\% = \frac{625 - 500}{500} \times 100

gain\% = \frac{125}{500} \times 100

gain\% = \frac{1}{4} \times 100

gain\% = 25\%

  • Hence , the profit percentage of the shopkeeper is 25%.

Note that :

  • C.P = Cost price
  • S.P = Selling price.

Formula to be used in such questions:

gain\% = \frac{s.p - c.p}{c.p} \times 100
