3. A single phase, 50-Hz transformer has 30 primary and 350 secondary turns. The net cross sectional area of the core is 250 cm2. If the primary winding is connected to a 230-V, 50-Hz supply, calculate a) peak value of density in the core. b) the voltage induced in the secondary winding.

Given:

N₁ = 30 ( primary turns)

N₂ = 350 ( secondary turns)

A = 250cm²

V₁ = 230 V

f = 50 Hz

To find:

1) peak value of density in the core.

2) the voltage induced in the secondary winding.

Solution:

1)

Bₙₐₓ = \frac{V}{4.44fNA}

Bₙₐₓ = \frac{230}{4.44 * 50 * 10^-^6 * 30 * 250}

Bₙₐₓ = 138.1 Tesla

2)

=\frac{no.ofturnsinprimarycoil}{no.ofturnsinsecondarycoil}  = \frac{velocity in primary coil}{velocity in secondary coil}

\frac{N_2}{N_1} × V₁ = V₂

\frac{350}{30} × 230 = V₂

V₂ = 2683.3 volts
