3.A solution contains 40g of common salt in 320 g of water .Calculate the concentration in terms of mass by mass percentage of the solution.

mass of solute = 40g

mass of solvent= 320g

concentration= mass of solute/mass of solvent×100

= 40/320×100

= 100/8

= 12.5%

Mass of solvent (water) =320 \: g

We know,

Mass of solution =Mass of solute +

Mass of solvent

= 40 \: g + 320 \: g

Mass percentage of solution

 \frac{ Mass  \: of  \: solute  }{ Mass \:  of  \: solution}  \times 100 \\  =  \frac{40}{360} \times   = 11.1\%
