3. A student forgot to add the reaction mixture to the
round bottomed flask at 27°C but put it on the flame.
After a lapse of time, he realized his mistake. Using
a pyrometer, he found that the temperature of the
flask was 477°C. What fraction of the air would have
been expelled out?

Initial temperature=T1=27oC=300K

Final temperature=T2=477oC=750K

Let the final moles be n2

We know, PV=nRT

∴n1T1=n2T2

∴(n)(300)=n2(750)

n2=750300=52n

Fraction expelled out=n1−n2

=n−52n

=55n−2n

=53n
