3. A tablecover 5 m x 3 m, is spread on a meeting table. If 25 cm of the table cover is
hanging all around the table, find the area of the table top.

Given that,

Length of the table cover = 5 m

Breadth of the table cover = 3 m

Area of the table cover = lb

Area of the table cover = 5 m × 3 m

Area of the table cover = 15 m

Also, 25 cm of the table cover is hanging all around the table, so, we must subtract 25 cm from the actual table cover.

Area of table = area of table cover - 25 cm

Area of table = 15 m - 25 cm

Area of table = 15 m - 0.25 m [1 m = 0.01 cm]
