(a) Where should we place an object in front of a
concave mirror in order to obtain a real image
beyond centre of curvature C?
(b) An object is placed at distance 10 cm in front
of a concave mirror of radius of curvature 15
cm. Find the position, nature and magnification
of the image.

Answer:

a) Object should be placed between centre of curvature (C) and principal focus (F)

b) u = -10cm

R = -15cm

f = -15/2cm

so by

1/v+1/u=1/f

v = -150 /(-20+15)

= -30cm

m=-v/u

   = - ( -30/10 )= -3

So the magnification of the image is -3 and it is real and inverted (because magnification is -ve) and it is formed 30cm in front of the mirror.

Hope this helped you....=))
