The weight of the gas cylinder

Solution:

The dimensions of the iron hollow cylinder:

External radius, r₂ = 22 cm

Internal radius, r₁ = 18 cm

Height, h = 14 cm

∴ The volume of the iron hollow cylinder is,

= $\pi (r_2 \:-\: r_1)^2 h$

= $\frac{22}{7} \times (22 \:-\:18)^2 \times 14$

= $\frac{22}{7} \times (4)^2 \times 14$

= $\frac{22}{7} \times 16 \times 14$

= $22 \times 16 \times 2$

= $704 \:cm^3$

Now,

If 1 cm³ of the cylindrical metal weighs = 5 gm

Then,

704 cm³ of the cylindrical metal weighs will weigh,

= 5 gm/cm³ × 704 cm³

= 3520 gms

Thus, the weight of the iron hollow cylindrical gas is → 3520 gms.
