3. An elevator descends into a mine shaft at the rate of 8m/min. If the descends
start from 20m above the ground level, how long will it take to reach-400m?​

here as the distance covered below the ground is given (-)400 m , we will omit that (-) sign as it's just given to denote downwards direction and distance traveled can't be negative.

starting distance above the ground = 20m

distance to be covered below it = 400m

total distance to be covered = 420m

speed = 8m/min

therefore, time taken = distance/speed

= 420/8

Answer = 52.5min
