3. Answer question numbers 3(a) to 3(d) on the basis of understanding the following paragraph and related
studied concepts:

The ground on which we walk is never quite the same, it keeps on changing. Sometimes it is made up of
millions of tiny granvies and other times it is hard tar covered roads. There was time long back when this
ground was mostly covered with soil and grass and then due to need of comfort, we human beings damaged the
nature by making roads, rails and so on.
The soil is the part of earth's surface which includes disintegrated rocks, humus, inorganic and other organic
material and micro-organisms. This provides medium for plant growth. For the formation of soil, it takes around
thousands of years. The soil is usually generated when rocks breakup in to its constituent parts. When a range of
different forces like wind, water, temperature etc. act on rock, they form soil.

3(a) Write any one damage caused to nature due to tar covered roads.

3(b) Soil is rich in micro-organisms. How does this help to reduce pollution?

3(c)What is weathering of rocks?

3(d) How does temperature change and water helps in formation of soil?
