Answer: The surface layers are made up of- organic debris that is partially decomposed.

The topsoil is made up of mineral particles mixed with organic material.

The subsoil is made up of compounds draining from above.

Parent material-

Parent material is the underlying geological material (generally bedrock or a superficial or drift deposit) in which soil horizons form.

Bedrock- is made up of weathered rock.

The soil is made from weathering: frost, ice, hail and rain break rocks down. Fine parent material is formed by chemical weathering(acids, moisture) and due to spontaneous weathering, minerals, nutrients, oxides of iron and aluminium, silica, sand and quartz mix into the soil.

The soil also consists of humus which makes it fertile for plant growth.

Hope this helps ;-)
