7. Comparing Quantities

Answer :

Given, percentage of calcium in chalk = 10%

Percentage of carbon in chalk = 3%

Percentage of oxygen in chalk = 2%

= 2.5 × 1000 = 2500gm

⇒ Amount of carbon in chalk = 3% of 2500 = 0.03 × 2500

= 75

⇒ Amount of Calcium in chalk = 10% of 2500 = 0.1 × 2500

= 250

percentage of oxygen= 2%, = 0.02 x 2500= 50

∴ amount of carbon and calcium respectively is 75 and 250
