Given :   a car being driven along a straight road.  The velocity of the car in m/s at different instants of time .

To Find :  Draw velocity-time graph for motion of the car. Obtain the value of acceleration of the car from the graph.

Solution:

Time sec     Velocity m/s

0          0

10         5

20        10

30        15

40        20

50        25

a = dv/dt   a = acceleration

a = (change in velocity )/ ( Change in time )

 value of acceleration of the car from the graph.

= ( 5 - 0)/(10 - 0)

= 5/10

= 1/2  m/s²

From Graph equation

y = x/2

Slope = 1/2  Hence acceleration = 1/2  m/s²
